Canal Alliance, in conjunction with Earn It! Keep It! Save It! Marin County is getting ready for Tax Season 2010 and we need your help preparing taxes. During the 2009 tax season, You, along with our other volunteers and staff, helped to prepare 2,900 plus tax returns and put more than 2.4 million dollars in total refunds back in the hands of families and individuals in our community!
We seek volunteers in the following roles:
Tax Preparer: Tax Preparers assist taxpayers with their tax returns during the tax filing season. Bilingual tax preparers are always in high demand.
Screener: Screeners are responsible for assisting clients with the intake form and ensuring taxpayers have the correct documents. This is a critical role as it is the initial point at which important filing information is gathered and verified. Spanish conversation ability required.
Interpreter: Interpreters aid taxpayers by working alongside the tax clients and Tax Preparers. Volunteers who speak Spanish and Vietnamese are always needed in Marin County. No training is required. Spanish fluency required.
Greeter: Greeters welcome tax filers to the tax site during the tax season. Greeters also introduce taxpayers to other resources available to them in the community. No training required. Spanish fluency required.
Volunteer Details
o All of our tax preparers and screeners are trained and certified by the IRS. Training classes will be 3 Saturdays and 3 Evenings. There is also a self paced training available online for tax professionals or experienced volunteers.
We are currently seeking volunteers for the following dates and times:
9am – 1pm / 12:30pm – 4:30pm
Saturdays – March 6 & April 3
Pickleweed Community Center

Sundays – beginning 2.7 through 4.11 (there will not be services offered on 3.7 or 4.4)
