Development Assistant


Canal Alliance has a dynamic four-person development team responsible for raising $4 million dollars annually. To help us achieve our goals, we are seeking well-rounded assistants who are eager to learn the basics of nonprofit fundraising through direct experience. As a volunteer in the development department, you will gain a strong understanding of the fundamentals of fundraising here at Canal Alliance and the ways in which we cultivate long-term relationships with our donors. We offer training and support for this role, which is a great résumé enhancer for anyone interested in nonprofit development, marketing, public relations, special events and fundraising.

*Research potential donors and new funding opportunities
*Perform data entry and update donor and gift records in our database (Salesforce)
*Prepare and send donor acknowledgement letters
*Occasional assistance with special event tasks, including data entry, mailings, and vendor research

Skills & Competencies
*Proficient with Google Docs and MS Office, Salesforce experience preferred but not required
*Online research
*Detail-oriented with a positive sense of humor
*Strong English language grammar and punctuation

Minimum Requirement
*1 shift per week, 2-4 hours per shift during regular office hours: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm
