Enable adult learners who are not fluent and literate in English to become proficient in communicating in English, so that they can meet their personal, employment, community, and academic goals.
*Prepare and deliver lesson plans in line with program goals and curriculum.
*Provide a nurturing, supportive, and positive learning environment with high expectations.
*Maintain complete and accurate records of student progress and attendance.
*Participate in program meetings and training sessions.
*A thorough understanding of the structure and function of the English language.
*Ability to engage students and maintain focus on learning objectives.
*Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with culturally diverse staff and participants.
*Commit to a minimum of one class a week for one semester.
*Prior experience with teaching and lesson planning, or relevant training.
*Knowledge and understanding of a variety of assessment tools as related to the education of the English Language Learner (preferred, but not required).
Note: If a weekly commitment is not possible, you can work as a substitute teacher.
