Uniting for Change: Policy, Advocacy, and Civic Engagement Program Advances Equity, Safety, and Air Quality in the Canal Neighborhood

April 22, 2025

The Policy, Advocacy, and Civic Engagement (PACE) program is dedicated to engaging the Canal community around important topics such as transportation, public safety, and climate adaptation. Their goal is to eliminate the deep inequities that impact our community by raising awareness, building coalitions, mobilizing voters, and advocating for policies that protect working families

Their Nuestro Canal Nuestro Futuro (NCNF) initiative has made a positive impact in the Canal neighborhood, by bringing the community together to build a shared vision for a safe, healthy, and affordable environment for all.

The California Air Resources Board and NCNF will soon be a partnering up on local air quality testing as part of a new statewide air quality monitoring initiative. By actively supporting community leaders and residents, we are ensuring residents can advocate for and ensure sustainable solutions for their neighborhood.

This important work is funded in part by The California Endowment, which recently awarded a grant to Canal Alliance.
