Advocacy
Canal Alliance has provided direct services to address the changing needs of Marin’s immigrant community since 1982. While these services address some of the factors that cause economic instability, they do not adequately address the root causes of inequity.
This is the point at which our advocacy work begins.
In 2018, Canal Alliance formalized its role in advocacy by hiring staff to lead these efforts and publishing its first policy agenda. Through advocacy efforts, Canal Alliance is committed to changing the systems and structures that are designed to oppress and marginalize the low-income Latino community.
