Candidates Forum: Latinos & Education in Marin

October 23, 2018

Two weeks ago, Canal Alliance released an Issue Brief highlighting the disparities in Marin County’s academic achievement for low income Latinos as compared to their peers. The paper, “Latinos & Education in Marin” was prepared in partnership with Latino Futures, and sheds light on several staggering benchmarks of inequity in education among the most vulnerable and at-risk youth in our community.

The paper also put forth a loud call to action directed at Marin County leaders and decision makers to deeply examine root causes of poverty and academic underperformance among Latinos. To see Latinos as an asset, and to act now by strengthening collaborations and creating additional methods and practices to effectively turn the tide.

Join us on Friday, October 26th at 3 p.m. via Facebook Live as we discuss these issues with all three candidates for San Rafael City School Board: Rachel Kertz, Jonathan Marker and Natu Tuatagaloa.

The conversation will be moderated by Mara Perez, Ph.D., Founder of Latino Futures.
