Immigrant Day 2019

May 24, 2019

On Monday, May 19, 2019, Canal Alliance led its third delegation of youth advocates to the steps of the State Capitol as part of a statewide day of advocacy and education about legislation that will directly affect the lives of immigrants in Marin and across the state.

Student representatives from Redwood High School, Terra Linda High School, San Rafael High School, Marin Catholic High School, and Davidson Middle School attended with the goal of sharing their own personal stories and struggles with legislators in order to inform policy decisions.

Personal visits with State Senator Mike McGuire and representatives from Assemblymember Marc Levine’s office empowered our youth advocates to speak out on issues that affect their families, their futures and their communities.

You can view photos of our visits and letters from our advocates in the gallery below.
