Bank of America Supports Canal Alliance Workforce Development Programs

October 6, 2023

Canal Alliance is proud to announce that Bank of America has made a grant in support of our Workforce Development Programs in the amount of $15,000. This grant will facilitate our continued efforts to address the need for workforce training programs that meet the needs of low-income Latino immigrants here in Marin.

While Latinos make up only 18.8% of the Marin population, they represent 24.2% of workers in the public and private sectors and have the highest labor participation rates among all groups in the county. Despite being so central to the county’s future economic development, Latinos predominantly hold low-paying service jobs in industries.

By lifting barriers to their success, we ensure that this growing demographic, which comprise the backbone of the county’s labor force, will have career-path employment with wages that can sustain their families.

Our Workforce Development Programs provide clients with a number of options for short-term certificate-based training to help increase wages. These programs currently include a 12-week construction certificate program, a small business training program, a bus operator program, a certified nursing assistant training, and a course to work in the financial sector.

With the support of Bank of America, we are changing the trajectory of the lives of our clients, one great job at a time.
