December 2, 2024
On September 19, 2024 – Canal Alliance was honored to be awarded a $2M general operating support to be used over 36 months under the Better Careers initiative from The James Irvine Foundation. In the words of the foundation leaders, “This grant is in recognition of the incredible work [Canal Alliance is] leading, supporting low-wage workers in California to gain access to holistic workforce services that build pathways to quality training and career opportunities.”
The James Irvine Foundation focuses on providing grants to nonprofits and organizations that align with their mission. They work to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion, addressing disparities in income, education, and access to public services. The foundation is one of the largest and most influential philanthropic entities in California, and it continues to have a significant impact on different organizations including Canal Alliance.
Canal Alliance will leverage these funds to support and empower low-income Latino immigrant individuals by offering access to essential workforce development programs that foster skill- building, job readiness and career advancements in their own community.
Our work for the Latino community in Marin is possible thanks to collaboration and partnership. With this funding, we can deepen our impact, expand our programs, and empower more individuals and families to thrive. We are grateful for the foundation’s commitment to equity and inclusion, and for joining us in the effort to create a stronger, more vibrant community for all.
Thank you to the James Irvine Foundation for this significant grant.
