Lupita Magaña nominated for the 2020 Outstanding Child Abuse Prevention Award

We are honored to share that Lupita Magaña, Case Manager at Canal Alliance, was nominated for the 2020 Outstanding Child Abuse Prevention Award, which recognizes professionals, volunteers, and everyday heroes among us who keep our children and families safe.
This award is typically presented by the Marin Child Abuse Prevention Council at the Annual Blue Ribbon Breakfast in April.
Jessica Marker, who nominated Lupita, said, “Lupita has been providing early intervention and prevention services to children in Marin County through Canal Alliance for 22 years.”
On a daily basis, she supports families and young people as they navigate a complex range of issues — from fleeing their home country and trying to resettle in Marin County, to supporting families overcoming the complexities of reunifying after their immigration journey, to domestic violence, or families on the brink of homelessness.
Because of Lupita’s extensive experience working with immigrant families in Marin County, she holds a wealth of knowledge for families and young people who are looking to access resources and navigate complex systems. Her support and effective case management has allowed many families in Marin to overcome personal crises and family emergencies. These interventions have created family stability, reducing the likelihood of child abuse. While her days are filled with difficult stories of challenging circumstances, Lupita receives each family with an open-heart and her full attention, treating each family or individual with the utmost dignity and compassion.”
