Community Fair Safety Volunteers
Join us in making the NCNF Community Fair a success!
We’re seeking enthusiastic, reliable volunteers to support various roles that ensure the event runs smoothly, safely, and joyfully for all guests.
Volunteer Roles:
1. Fair Ambassadors
Purpose:
Be the welcoming face of the fair! Fair Ambassadors are the first point of contact for guests, helping them feel oriented and excited as they enter.
Location: Entrance Table
Key Tasks:
- Greet guests warmly
- Distribute fair passports and maps
- Provide basic event info and directions
Volunteers Needed: 3
- 2 volunteers: 11:30 AM – 3:30 PM
- 1 volunteer: 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM
2. Flow Control Volunteers
Purpose:
Help manage the movement of people to avoid congestion and keep things running smoothly.
Location: Walking throughout the fairgrounds
Key Tasks:
- Guide guests toward less crowded zones
- Answer event-related questions
- Help organize taquero lines and direct to seating areas
Volunteers Needed: 3
Shift: 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM
3. Cross Guard
Purpose:
Keep guests safe as they arrive on foot by guiding them to cross at designated crosswalks.
Location: Corner near the Toyota dealership
Key Tasks:
- Direct pedestrians away from dangerous intersections
- Ensure safe crossing to the event
Volunteers Needed: 1
Shift: 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM
4. Parking Attendants
Purpose:
Maintain an organized flow of arriving cars and help guests park with ease.
Locations:
- 711 Grand Ave Parking Lot
- 700 Irwin St Parking Garage
Key Tasks:
- Direct drivers to available spots
- Track open parking spaces in real-time
Volunteers Needed: 4
- 2 volunteers: 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM (1 per site)
- 2 volunteers: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM (1 per site)
5. Set-Up Volunteers
Purpose:
Assist with setting up tents, tables, and chairs to prepare the fairgrounds before guests arrive.
Location: Event grounds (exact layout provided)
Key Tasks:
- Unload and set up 10×10 tents, tables, and chairs
- Organize layout based on event map
Volunteers Needed: 8
Shift: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- 4 for tents
- 2 for tables
- 2 for chairs
6. Safety Volunteers
Purpose:
Support a welcoming and secure environment for all guests, especially in light of concerns about public safety and potential ICE presence.
Locations: 711 Grand Ave, nearby bus stops, and surrounding areas
Key Tasks:
- Use walkie-talkies to stay in communication
- Patrol entry points and check for suspicious activity
- Monitor for ICE vehicles and follow safety protocols
- Greet guests at bus stops with event and transit info
- Be prepared to assist with evacuation if needed
Volunteers Needed: ~10
Shifts:
- 11:00am – 2:00pm
- 1:30pm – 4:00pm
