Building Connections for a Safe and Inclusive Community
Tuesday, March 5, 2019 • 6:00 pm
Osher Marin JCC, 200 North San Pedro Road, San Rafael, CA
Please join Canal Alliance, Osher Marin JCC and Not in Our Town for a community event in support of our shared values of diversity, inclusion, acceptance and mutual respect. Our objective is to bring Marins’ people together and gather in support and protection of those who may feel vulnerable and afraid.
The evening will begin at the Osher Marin JCC courtyard where we’ll celebrate a 20-minute candlelight vigil with community speakers and hot drinks, representing our unity as we bring light and beauty to the darkness of the evening. After the candlelight walk, we will get into the JCC theater to watch the film Light in the Darkness from Not in Our Town to finish the evening with a panel discussion led by Mary Jane Burke, Marin County Superintendent of Schools: Diana Bishop, San Rafael Police Department Chief, Lucia Martel, Director of Immigration and Social Services at Canal Alliance and Peg Sandel Head of Brandeis Marin.
Individuals, groups, and families with children of all ages are welcome to attend. Battery-operated tea light “candles” will be provided, or feel free to bring your own.
The event is free and open to the public, and you can register here: https://www.marinjcc.org/index.php?src=events&submenu=ex_o&srctype=detail&category=Jewish%20Life&refno=79258&srctype=events_detail_2017
