Administrative Volunteer – VITA and Pathways Teams

Mission & Objective 

Canal Alliance exists to break the generational cycle of poverty for Latino immigrants and their families by lifting barriers to their success. 

Requirements 

• Ages: 18 years old or older 
• Background Check

Start Date and Availability 

VITA – Seeking volunteers who can start immediately   

Pathways – Seeking volunteers who can start immediately      

• 6 -12 Months commitment required  

• Must be available on Wednesdays for 2-4 hours. Volunteer schedules can be hybrid since some days task will be making phone calls to clients

Responsibilities 

• VITA
  • calling clients, answering phones to provide information about the free tax prep program 
  • Administrative support

• Pathways
  • Job verification calls and inputting this data on Salesforce 

Skills & Competencies 

• Bilingual – Spanish Fluency  

• Salesforce experience – CRM  

• Comfortable talking on the phone with strangers   

• Cultural competence in working with diverse populations, including communities of color, immigrants, and persons of various ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, health status, and abilities.   

• Comfortable with technology 

Onboarding  

• Initial 30 min intake meeting with Volunteer Coordinator and Program manager  

• Get introduced to program managers and set up a start date/time  

• Fill out Canal Alliance onboarding forms through DocuSign (forms will be emailed by the Volunteer Manager).    

• Begin volunteering!
