Team of diverse Census outreach volunteers share information about the 2020 Census with the Canal community at an event.

Bilingual Outreach Volunteers will assist with education and direct outreach in tasks related to voter registration and the 2020 Census. This role will focus on outreach to Latino immigrants and their families. You will receive training to be a trusted messenger and support on how to engage the community on these issues and more. Projects will include outreach at food pantries, neighborhood and community meetings and events.

The Bilingual Outreach Volunteer performs various roles depending on the event or activity. Schedules will vary between 2-4 hours per activity.



Volunteers must be 16 or older.

If under 18, you must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.


Weekdays, weeknights and weekends depending on the event, task, issue or project


Complete training to learn to answer questions that may arise as part of an education or outreach activity.

Share information with the public, assist with table/booth operations at various locations/events including setting up and takedown of booth materials and help with tracking event details and outcomes.

Skills & Competencies

Spanish proficiency is required as the volunteers will be providing educationand outreach. Canal Alliance is a trusted messenger in the Latino immigrant community and the ability to communicate effectively is key to delivering a message on why the census is important to the Latino immigrant community.
